On Thursday, September 28, Tampa partner James Terpening presented before in-house counsel members of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)’s Real Estate Network (REN). Jimmy, who is Florida Bar Board Certified in Construction Law, presented on the topic of contractual indemnity.
During the presentation, Jimmy discussed this topic from his perspective as a Florida litigation attorney who primarily represents national residential developers and property owners. He provided guidance on how best to pursue or defend these claims in court, as well as how to potentially avoid litigation through effective transactional drafting and pre-suit negotiations. Additionally, Jimmy spoke about hot topics and current trends in this area.
The goal of the Real Estate network is to explore and develop practice methods for attorneys who regularly practice real estate law. The network allows these lawyers to effectively and efficiently provide legal services to their corporate clients via the mutual sharing of nonproprietary information, processes, knowledge, and documents produced by network members. The network also develops industry-related resources and information to ACC members who do not regularly practice real estate law.
