Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tampa office recently held their 3rd Annual “Outstanding Pro Bono and Community Service Awards” Ceremony in recognition of the local attorneys and staff who made significant contributions to pro bono and charitable efforts in 2021.
The reception was organized and presided by Tampa partners Ella Shenhav and Michael Silver, respectively. The December 9th celebration marked the third occasion that the event was held in the office, with the event being held virtually last year due to the pandemic. During the reception, Tampa attorney Elizabeth King was recognized with the “Outstanding Pro Bono and Community Service” award, in honor of her dedication to exceptional pro bono service to the community.
This annual celebration serves as a reminder of the pro bono and community driven efforts for which the Tampa office is regularly recognized. Elizabeth was honored as the recipient of the 2020 Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Outstanding Pro Bono Service By A Young Lawyer Award, while Ella was honored as the recipient of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s 2021 award for “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Lawyer.” Among the Tampa staff recognized for pro bono accomplishments have been individuals like Kathy Kobos, who was awarded the 2019 Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Outstanding Pro Bono Service By A Paralegal Award. Additionally, Shutts was among 33 Tampa Bay-area honorees for the 2021 One Tampa Bay Awards, given by the Tampa Bay Business Journal for corporations going above and beyond to give back to the community.
“The Shutts & Bowen Tampa office will continue to have a meaningful, positive impact on our local community and those in need in the greater Tampa Bay area, thanks to selfless individuals like Elizabeth, Kathy and Ella,” said R. Alan Higbee, Managing Partner of the Shutts Tampa office. “These award recipients and our entire office embodies the spirit of community involvement that epitomizes pro bono service.”
