Participating as a sponsor and competitor, Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tampa office recently attended the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s (HCBA) 18th Annual 5K Pro Bono River Run and Judicial Food Festival, winning first place in the food festival’s Best Drink category.
Held on Saturday, March 26th, 2022, at the Stetson Law Campus, the HCBA’s annual 5K event supports pro bono legal services in Hillsborough County, encouraging the pledging and performance of pro bono service from runners and walkers participating in the race.
The Judicial Food Festival immediately followed the 5K, featuring law firms, sponsors, legal organizations and judges in competing tents. More than 400 people attended the food festival, with judges voting on winners of best food, drink, dessert and theme. The Shutts team was comprised of Tampa attorneys Eric Page, Kasey Feltner, Alyssa Cory, Lonnie Simpson and Woody Pollack, Tampa staff members Lia DeLeary, Valerie Cisco, Cynthia Bequette, Katie Chambers and Carla Peck, and Bianca Duffield from the firm’s Marketing department. The entire team worked in collaboration to plan, organize, and execute on the team’s food and drink entries, and the day-of event décor. Shutts & Bowen’s booth, “Shutts Island,” featured a shrimp boil and Gilligan’s Island theme, as well as Subpoena-Coladas and Mullét spiked seltzers, with the highly popular Subpoena-Colada claiming the event’s “Best Drink” award.
The Hillsborough County Bar Association is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in Florida with a membership close to 4,000 attorneys, judges and legal professionals who share a mission to inspire and promote respect for the law and the justice system through service to the legal profession and the community.
