Last month, Fort Lauderdale associate Spencer Hennings was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the City of Sunny Isles Beach in recognition for his contributions in fostering greater transparency and accountability for condominium communities. The City grants these awards to recognize individuals who have been instrumental in enriching the fabric of their community.
Spencer served as the Florida Condominium Ombudsman from July 2020 until April 2023, where he offered his assistance, knowledge and guidance in improving the quality of life for Florida condominium owners. The City noted his “prompt, professional and courteous services as a neutral, informative and accessible resource.”

Spencer E. Hennings is an Associate in the Fort Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group. In 2020, Spencer received a gubernatorial appointment to serve as Florida’s Condominium Ombudsman. From 2020-2023, he resolved thousands of issues in condominium associations, served as the state’s liaison to those affected by the Miami-Dade Surfside condo collapse, and helped draft new condominium legislation at the local and state levels.
