The Business Observer recently profiled partners from Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tampa office, including R. Alan Higbee, Sally Woodward, Olga Pina and Woodrow “Woody” Pollack, in a feature article describing teaching roles that the individuals have assumed over the years to benefit the students at Stetson University College of Law.
The article, “Four Shutts & Bowen Attorneys Add Professor to Their Resume,” goes on to describe the growing list of Shutts attorneys who have participated as adjunct professors at Stetson. According to Sally Woodward, a Stetson alumna, “When Stetson asked me to come out and train new associates, I couldn’t say no.”
The Tampa partners teach classes revolving around each of their respective practices. “I think some young law students don’t even know that many specialized areas of practice exist, so teaching classes that relate to our specific practices help some aspiring young lawyers gain a better understanding of practice options that may be available to them after law school,” said R. Alan Higbee, Managing Partner of the Tampa office.
Over the years, the college has asked multiple Shutts partners to teach classes as adjunct faculty members, including Sally and Alan who joined the lineup most recently, as well we Olga Pina, who first began her teaching journey more than 20 years ago.
Despite the challenge of balancing a busy legal practice with the time commitments of preparing for lectures and teaching classes, the Shutts partners insist that the experience is very rewarding. “I’ll continue as long as Stetson keeps asking,” said Woody Pollack.
