The Tampa office of Shutts & Bowen LLP recently participated as sponsors and competitors in the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s 17th Annual Judicial Food Fest and 5K Pro Bono River Run event, held on Saturday, February 29th at the Stetson Law Campus. Tampa attorneys and staff participated in the 5K race and served up a themed dish to the more than 400 attendees.
With efforts led by Tampa partner Eric Page, Shutts Team members collaborated on their selected “Shutts Goes Southern” theme, and served Southern Style Nachos and Brew Bus beverages to the attendees at the family-friendly event. Before the food festival began, Ella Shenhav, Melanie Senoisian, Karen Skeen and Nancy Pesquera participated in the 5K race. The goal of the race was the pledging and performance of pro bono service from participating runners and walkers. In 2019, the Shutts Tampa office contributed more than 660 hours of pro bono services to the community.
At the event, Ella Shenhav was recognized as a "Proven Producer" in honor of the pro bono hours she pledged and completed last year.
The Judicial Food Festival featured a cook-off among law firms, judges, and other organizations, as well as a booth decoration contest, music, performances and an opportunity to catch up with colleagues. The event was free to all HCBA members and their guests. Tampa attorneys Eric Page, Eric Adams, Woodrow Pollack, Christopher Hamilton, Kasey Feltner and Alyssa Cory, as well as staff members Juanita Sanchez, Sandra Bishoff, Lia DeLeary, Nancy Pesquera and Christine Grant worked in collaboration to organize the firm’s food entry and event décor.
According to the organization, the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA) is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in Florida with a membership of over 4,000 attorneys, judges and legal professions who share a mission to inspire and promote respect for the law and the justice system through service to the legal profession and the community.
