7.9.19

Shutts & Bowen LLP Fort Lauderdale Partner Sidney C. Calloway has been appointed by the Urban League of Broward County to serve as Chair to the Board of Directors. Well acquainted with the organization’s operations, Sidney’s term as Board Chairman directly follows his previous appointment as First Vice Chair.

The Urban League of Broward County, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1975, pursues their mission of empowering communities, changing lives and enabling African-Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights through the organization’s areas of service and programs. “I am humbled by the election as Board Chair and hope to capably follow the sense of collaboration and progress set forth by Chris Paterson during his term,” said Sidney. “I will work to ensure that the Urban League remains committed to its mission and that this organization is the agency of choice for children and families in Broward County.”

In addition to the announcement of a new Board Chair, the Urban League of Broward County also welcomed three new members to the Board of Directors. According to the organization, the new Board Members will “help lead the organization in the coming year as it works to advance the lives of African-Americans and others in historically underserved communities by providing them with more access to education, entrepreneurship, jobs, justice, housing, and health.”
