Alexander Tachmes and Joshua Heller Discuss P3s with American Planning Association
November 14, 2018 12:11 PM
Miami partner Alexander I. Tachmes and associate Joshua J. Heller published an article titled “Planning for P3 Success” in the November issue of Planning. In the article, Alex and Josh indicate that public-private partnerships (P3s) are one of the more complex and mutually beneficial vehicles for the development of public buildings or other projects in the public interest.
P3s – joint ventures between public and private entities – depend on collaboration between all stakeholders in the project, including citizens, local businesses and city departments. Challenges may arise due to the complexity of the process, potential public opposition, contested competitive procurement issues, municipal office turnover, and planning and zoning. The article goes on to provide options to streamline the land-use approval process relating to a P3.
