Kimberly Prior, MiamiKimberly Prior has rejoined Shutts & Bowen LLP as a partner in its Financial Services Practice Group in the firm’s Miami office. She rejoins Shutts & Bowen LLP after two years as an equity partner at Baker McKenzie. For 10 years before joining Baker McKenzie, she practiced at Shutts & Bowen LLP.

Prior focuses on emerging regulatory issues and corporate matters for domestic and international financial services firms, broker-dealers and investment advisors, as well as emerging FinTech matters.

“Kim is a significant addition to the firm,” said Bowman Brown, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the Financial Services Practice Group. “She has invaluable experience in emerging financial technology matters, which are essential to our clients as they increasingly adopt FinTech solutions to better serve their clients."

“Kim is an excellent regulatory lawyer dealing with financial issues, and we are delighted to have her back home with us,” said Bryan Wells, Co-Chair of the Financial Services Practice Group.

“While I enjoyed handling regulatory matters for major financial services firms over the past two years at Baker McKenzie, I missed the collaborative environment and the support of the deep bench at Shutts dedicated full-time to financial services legal matters,” Prior said.

Prior added, “FinTech is transforming the financial services industry. Digital currency alternative payment systems, data mining, and other rapidly evolving developments are changing the regulatory landscape and challenging financial services companies, broker-dealers, and the companies providing the new technologies.”

Prior has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami School of Law teaching an advanced seminar focused on current issues in financial institution mergers and acquisitions. She also lectures at financial conferences throughout the United States and abroad.

Prior is a Director of the Florida International Bankers Association and heads its Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee.
