Overview

Derrick M. Valkenburg is a partner in the Orlando office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group.

A Certified Public Accountant, Derrick represents individuals, small business owners, closely held corporations, national and publicly traded corporations, and local governments in the areas of construction, complex commercial litigation, civil litigation, general business, corporate and real estate transactions, probate and trust litigation, and real property litigation.

Derrick also has experience with insurance defense (fraud investigation, bodily injury, uninsured motorist and personal injury protection), as well as insurance coverage issues, employment law, structured settlement transfers, tax controversy, eminent domain proceedings, foreclosure, landlord-tenant disputes, and criminal defense.

Derrick has presented and moderated panels on ethics, e-discovery and law practice topics and has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers in business litigation.
