Sidney Calloway is a partner in the Ft. Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen LLP and Co-Chair of the Government Law Practice Group.
Sidney is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Court Mediator, Florida Bar Certified in Civil Trial Law and has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers in Civil Litigation Defense. He focuses his practice in complex, high exposure commercial litigation in state and federal court. He has represented public agencies and private sector clients and served as lead counsel in jury trials involving land use and zoning, eminent domain, CERCLA, telecommunications and construction defects. In addition, Sidney counsels corporate and other commercial clients in their governmental affairs with state, regional and local government agencies.
Professional and Community Involvement
Sidney is a recipient of the Urban League of Broward County’s Margaret Roach Humanitarian Award and served on its board of directors. He served almost nine years as a board member for the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County and has also served on the City of Fort Lauderdale Economic Development Advisory Board, and the Fort Lauderdale NAACP. In 2008, Sidney received Onyx Magazine’s Onyx Award for community service.
Sidney is also a past president of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, a former adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law’s Litigation Skills Department, and former chair of a Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the 17th Judicial Circuit. He’s the former chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and currently chairs the Chamber’s Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.
