Matthew Chait Quoted in Palm Beach Post Article

4.12.17

Business Litigation partner Matthew Chait was recently quoted in the Palm Beach Post about hotels proposed in Wellington’s Equestrian Preserve Area.

According to the article, developer Mark Bellisimo is looking for a way around a 2016 referendum that prohibits hotels, motels, condo hotels and apartments in the Equestrian Preserve. He is also asking that the International Polo Club be re-zoned and subsequently removed from the preserve.

Shutts & Bowen represents the interests of the Jacobs family, outspoken preservationists in Wellington and opponents of the hotel plan. Matt argued that Bellissimo’s proposal could eventually result in a “dismantling” of the preserve.

“It’s going to open the floodgates, and it’s going to allow much more,” said Matt. “This is not the end. This is the beginning.”
