Shutts & Bowen has again been recognized as a diverse organization, this time ranking among the American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard’s Top 25 Firms in the country. Landing at No. 19 nationally, Shutts took the No. 2 spot amongst Florida firms.

Nationally, 55 firms boast a minimum of 20 percent minority attorneys, Shutts included. According to the American Lawyer, total minority representation across the top 200 law firms has increased from 13.6 percent in 2011 to the latest scorecard result of 16.9 percent.

The annual Diversity Scorecard is one of the best-known benchmarks measuring law firm diversity, tallying the number of Asian or Asian-American, Black or African-American, Latino or Hispanic, and self-described multiracial partners and associates among the nation’s top 250 law firms according to their average number of full-time-equivalent minority attorneys. Scores are calculated by adding the total percentage of U.S.-based minority attorneys (non-partners) and total percentage of all U.S. partners at the firms.
