On Saturday, May 7, Shutts & Bowen received the “Firm Award” presented by the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County at the non-profit organization’s Annual Pro Bono Recognition Evening. More than 750 people attended the event, which took place at the Palm Beach Convention Center.

“As a firm, we are honored to receive this award, and I am proud of the dedication our team has to giving back to the community,” said Arthur J. Menor, Managing Partner of the West Palm Beach office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, who received the award on behalf of the firm.

In 2015, attorneys and paralegals from the Palm Beach office provided over 600 hours of pro bono service to individuals and local organizations including: AVDA (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, Inc.), Boca Helping Hands, Florida Historical Society, Leadership Palm Beach County, and United Way of Palm Beach County.

“I am privileged to have served on the Legal Aid Society’s Board of Directors for the past 3 years, and to assist with providing equal access to the legal system to the disadvantaged," said Matthew Sackel, a partner in the West Palm Beach office of Shutts & Bowen. "It is gratifying to be a part of a firm that fully supports our attorneys’ desire to contribute to the community,”

Attorneys Adam Bregman, Danet Rodriguez Figg and Elizabeth Jones were all commended by Menor in connection with the award. “Danet has served as pro bono legal counsel to United Way for many years and Adam did a tremendous amount of work for United Way last year in conjunction with the sale of their campus in Boynton Beach and their relocation to new leased space in West Palm Beach. Elizabeth has handled several significant matters for AVDA in furthering their important mission to ending domestic abuse. We congratulate everyone in the firm who made this award possible,” said Menor.

More than 20 members of the firm attended the recognition event including the chair of the firm-wide Pro Bono Committee, Edward O’Sheehan, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office.
