Supreme Court JNC Chair Daniel Nordby Announces Florida Supreme Court Nominees

Shutts & Bowen LLP Tallahassee partner Daniel E. Nordby transmitted the list of Florida Supreme Court nominees for consideration by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 23, 2020.
Daniel, who is Chair of the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, announced the list of nine nominees after the Commission interviewed 32 applicants for the two seats vacated by former justices Barbara Lagoa and Robert Luck. Governor DeSantis has up to 60 days to appoint their replacements.
Daniel was reappointed to the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission by Governor DeSantis in July 2019. He previously served as a gubernatorial appointee on the Commission from 2012-2018. Commenting on the Commission’s selections, Daniel stated, “Justices Lagoa and Luck set a high bar during their short time on the Florida Supreme Court. I have complete confidence in Governor DeSantis as he decides how best to fill their vacancies from this talented list of nominees.”
