William McCullough Returns to Shutts as Partner; 2nd Major ‘Homecoming’ in Two Weeks

February 15, 2018 12:02 PM

William McCullough has rejoined Shutts & Bowen LLP as a partner in its Corporate Practice Group in the firm’s Miami office. Mr. McCullough, who previously practiced with Shutts & Bowen for about 20 years, returns after four years as a partner in the Miami office of Holland & Knight LLP.

McCullough’s return coincides with that of partner Kimberly Prior, who rejoined Shutts & Bowen last week after two years as a partner with the Miami office of Baker McKenzie.

McCullough’s practice is focused on both corporate and financial services matters. His work with corporate clients includes development of real estate-related and other joint ventures, private fund formation and other capital-raising activities, and mergers & acquisitions. On the financial services side, he assists domestic and international banks, trust companies, asset managers, fund sponsors, and other financial services providers on a full range of federal and state regulatory and transactional matters.

“We couldn’t be more excited that Bill is rejoining the firm,” said Bowman Brown, chairman of the Executive Committee and co-chair of the Financial Services Practice Group. “From our many years practicing together, we know how much clients appreciate his ability to see through complex legal problems and find practical, business-oriented solutions. We look forward to his contributions as a key member of our Corporate team, but also expect he will be quite active in our Financial Services Practice.”

“Bill’s combination of technical expertise and sound judgment really sets him apart,” said Alfred G. Smith, co-chair of the Corporate Practice Group. “He brings to the table exactly the sorts of advanced transactional skills that we value highly, and that our clients demand.”

“This truly feels like a homecoming for me, and I could not be more energized,” said McCullough. “Shutts has an incredible team of top-notch practitioners in the legal disciplines of greatest interest to my clients, including corporate, financial services, real estate, tax, and dispute resolution. I am proud to be rejoining the firm, and am especially excited to do so at the same time Kim Prior has returned.”

McCullough was educated at Tulane University, The London School of Economics, and Stanford Law School. He is a member of the Bars of Florida, New York, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia.
