Alfred G. Smith is a partner in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Corporate Practice Group.

He regularly advises public and private companies in equity and debt offerings, including public offerings. Al has substantial experience in the energy industry, where he has represented clients in establishing power generation projects in more than 20 countries.

Al regularly assists clients in forming and operating private equity funds, venture capital funds and real estate funds and addressing applicable regulatory issues.

Al has been a frequent lecturer on securities and corporate law and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for New Education Initiatives, a support organization for the Miami-Dade County Schools, the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and the Business Volunteers for the Arts, as well as serving on the United Way Allocation Committee and the Securities Committee of the Florida Bar.
