In an article titled “The Range of International Disputes Being Resolved in Miami Is Expanding,” Shutts Miami Partner Aleksey Shtivelman discusses the rise in cross-border disputes.

According to Aleksey, South Florida has seen an uptick in energy disputes “because much of Latin America has massive power needs mixed in with economic struggles,” the combination of which “leads to some of those disputes.” Other factors may include the rising implementation of sanctions, disruptions as a result of COVID, and natural disasters.

Aleksey and others are seeing wealth flowing from Latin America to the U.S. and vice versa, with South Florida being the epicenter of the flow.
