Alyssa Cory, an attorney in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tampa office, recently graduated from Tampa Connection, joining her fellow graduates as part of the Class of 2023.

Tampa Connection is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide local business professionals with the necessary tools to become active leaders and volunteers in the Tampa Bay Community. Each year, a select group of applicants are chosen to participate in the Tampa Connection “class.”  The year-long program exposes class members to leadership development, social, and community service opportunities while immersing them in the local community.  Each year, local nonprofits submit project proposals to the Tampa Connection Board of Directors, with the selected projects to be carried out by the Tampa Connection class during their program year.

Alyssa’s team project involved working with Finn’s Fighters, an organization committed to increasing awareness of pediatric cancer and supporting families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis in the Tampa Bay area. Her team worked to build out a golf tournament template to serve as a funding event for a new program they helped develop, FINNspirations, that will directly support Tampa Bay families affected by pediatric cancer. Tampa Connection prepares members to become active volunteers and leaders in Tampa Bay, while building professional relationships.

Alyssa L. Cory is a Senior Associate in the Tampa office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Appellate Practice Group. Alyssa handles appeals and civil litigation support in a variety of cases in federal and state courts. Her practice covers complex commercial and business appeals, including appeals in all five Florida District Courts of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She assists clients with trial preservation, and developing and framing key legal arguments.
