Ben Gibson Among Slate of Electors Who Cast a Vote in the Electoral College

Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Tallahassee Office Managing Partner Benjamin Gibson was among the slate of electors who cast a vote in the Electoral College at the Florida Senate Chambers in Tallahassee on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, “The names of the electors, which were submitted by the Florida Republican Party in August, are a who's who of elected state and local party leaders, and other officials.” The article notes Ben’s prominence among the Florida Republican electors, specifically as the State Board of Education Chair and prior work as general counsel to then-Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis’ transition team, as well as deputy general counsel to then-Gov. Rick Scott.

Electors convene to cast their votes on the first Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December after the general election, but the State's Certificate of Vote was sent to Congress to be counted in a joint session on Jan. 6, 2025, where the President of the Senate declared the new president and vice president of the United States.
