Bherti Patel Zaveri Speaks at Florida Chamber’s 38th Annual Environmental Permitting Conference

Bherti Patel Zaveri, an attorney in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tampa office, recently spoke on a panel during the Florida Chamber Foundation’s 38th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School Conference, held July 16-19 at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort.

Bherti spoke as a member of the “Emerging Issues in Pollution Liability in Florida” panel. This panel focused on the shift in environmental enforcement priorities by both the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Course panelists also discussed the emerging policy in the context of environmental pollution responsibility and liability, explained the legal and technical challenges that arise in related cases, and featured impacts to both property owners and facility operators.

Founded in 1968, the Florida Chamber Foundation is a business-led, solutions development and research organization, working in partnership with state business leaders to secure Florida’s future. The Florida Environmental Network, Inc. (FENI) is part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to keep members and organizations informed of environmental and growth management laws and regulations. Each year FENI produces the popular ‘Summer School’ Conference to engage with engineers, attorneys, consultants, state and local government officials, developers, landowners and others with a strong interest in environmental issues in Florida. The Environmental ‘Summer School’ Conference featured over 90 courses throughout the event and offered continuing education credits to legal professionals, engineers and licensed environmental professionals.
