Bowman Brown, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Miami office, was recently featured in a Miami Today article titled, “Bank Acquisitions, Mergers Expected to Increase in Year Ahead.”
According to the Miami Today article, “despite the year's slow start for the ongoing cycle of small banks being acquired or merging with other banks, activity is expected to pick up.”
Bowman spoke to Miami Today about how the chance of small banks being acquired has increased significantly.
Bowman noted “banks were beaten up in the beginning of this year” and a lot of pressure was put on them. Bowman also said that pressure is abating and banks are getting much more profitable.
“As far as small business are concerned, I think community banks are very important, and unfortunately, we just, in my opinion, don’t have enough of them at this point,” said Bowman.
