Derrick Valkenburg Re-Elected to a Second Term on Board of Directors for the ABC Central Florida Chapter

Derrick Valkenburg, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office, was re-elected to a second three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Associated Builders and Contractors – Central Florida Chapter.

ABC’s Central Florida Chapter is governed by a board of directors composed of volunteer members, elected by the chapter’s membership. Derrick’s election is indicative of the members’ recognition of his support for America’s merit shop construction industry. During his term on the board, Derrick will apply his professional and legal experience to best serve Central Florida’s largest community of commercial contractors and industry leaders. Derrick is completing his current board term this year and his next term of office will run from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2027.

Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) is the largest commercial construction trade association in Florida, with the Central Florida Chapter ABC (CFC ABC) representing companies doing business in the counties of Orange, Lake, Volusia, Seminole and Osceola. The Central Florida Chapter of ABC is a community of common interest, helping its members win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.

Derrick M. Valkenburg is a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP's Orlando office, where he is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group. Derrick's practice focuses on construction, commercial and real property litigation. He often represents developers, contractors, material suppliers, and design professionals in disputes involving construction defect claims, delay claims, construction lien issues, contract disputes, and insurance coverage issues. Derrick also represents clients in the areas of commercial landlord-tenant disputes, real property litigation, insurance litigation, employment law, probate and trust litigation, and e-discovery. He has represented clients through trial in both state and federal court actions.
