Francis “Frank” Rodriguez, Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s Executive Committee, was quoted in a Daily Business Review article titled “Florida Law Firm Leaders Approach 2024 with Guarded Optimism.” In the article, Frank shared his expectations for the legal market in the coming year.
Frank remains optimistic for 2024. Florida continues to be a hot area for many sectors and, the firm has kept busy as newcomers to Florida continue to expand the local economy.
“The firms that have come to town have actually proven to be a good source of work for us,” he said. “We’ve seen an uptick in the type of work we do and our capacity as local counsel for a lot of firms. We’re getting a lot of referrals, just based on the strength of our reputation and the number of lawyers that we have practicing in the state of Florida in niche areas, which are the ones that command the highest rates and premiums.”
Frank also stated that the firm is looking to grow in the areas of health care and intellectual property, the latter of which has seen a boom recently because of the explosion of Fintech in Miami.
