On February 16, Miami partner Gary Cohen, a member of the firm’s Tax and International Law Practice Group, participated on a panel discussing Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) presented by LeadingAge Florida.
LIHTC have become a popular way to fund rehab, construction or acquisition of affordable housing developments for some companies. The panelists addressed how the LIHTC program can help owners, developers, and managing agents who are interested in using the program to acquire, build or rehab affordable housing properties. They discussed topics ranging from application, assembling your team, ways to restructure assets for long term success, and implementing tax credits to serve special populations.
