Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Melodie Khosrovani, an associate in the Tampa office, was chosen by the firm’s Pro Bono Committee to receive the First Annual Shutts & Bowen Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award.  This award was presented to Khosrovani during the Tampa office’s monthly social on November 14, 2024.

The Pro Bono Committee selected Khosrovani to receive this award because of her consistently high number of pro bono hours each year, and her willingness to take on pro bono representations on a regular basis.

Since joining Shutts & Bowen in 2020, Khosrovani has taken on multiple pro bono matters. She represented victims of domestic violence and organizations dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities, among other indigent individuals.  She also regularly volunteers at a pro bono clinic for the homeless and indigent.

Pro bono work provides an invaluable service to low or no income clients who otherwise would be left to fend for themselves in a legal system they know little about.  Pro bono service also enables newer attorneys to hone their skills, gain real-world legal experience, cultivate legal mentors, and explore new areas of law. It is routinely cited as one of the most rewarding parts of practicing law.
