Marc Sarnoff, a Land Use partner in Shutts & Bowen’s Miami office and a member of Florida International University’s Board of Trustees, has been named Vice Chair of FIU’s Presidential Search Committee. This advisory committee, consisting of 15 members from the Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, faculty, students, alumni, and the community, was announced by Roger Tovar, Chair of the FIU Board of Trustees, on February 26, 2025.
The Committee is responsible for leading a nationwide search for FIU’s next president, ensuring the process is transparent, effective, and aligned with state laws and the priorities of the Board of Governors and FIU. Key duties include developing position criteria, approving a marketing plan, identifying and vetting candidates, and recommending finalists to the Board of Trustees.

A Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator and former City of Miami Commissioner, Marc is a proven advocate for business investment and helped shape Miami’s emergence as a hub for technology, entertainment and culture during his time in office. Marc was appointed a member of the FIU Board of Trustees in 2016.
