Kristin Drecktrah Paz, a partner with the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen, has been elected President-Elect of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL). She will be installed at a virtual installation celebration on July 1, and will assume the presidency in summer 2021.
MDFAWL is a volunteer bar association dedicated to actively promoting the advancement of women in the legal profession, expanding the leadership role of its members in the community at large, and promoting women’s rights. The organization is also committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and providing equal opportunities for participation and support to people of any gender, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and socioeconomic background.
Paz is a member of Shutts’ International Arbitration and Litigation Practice Group where she focuses her practice in international and complex dispute resolution, including commercial arbitration and international litigation in U.S. courts.
In addition to her MDFAWL involvement, she currently serves on the Executive Council of the International Law Section of The Florida Bar and is a past Chair of the International Energy and Natural Resources Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.
Paz received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, her Master’s from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and her law degree from Florida International University College of Law.
