On Wednesday, September 11, Shutts & Bowen LLP was honored to host Interlaw Day 2024. The event, organized in partnership with Interlaw and Interlaw-member firm Laurence Simons, was an opportunity for Interlaw members, clients and colleagues from around the world to gather and discuss the latest legal challenges facing global businesses today.
Aliette D. Rodz, Co-Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group and the firm’s liaison to Interlaw, welcomed attendees to the firm’s Miami office where the event was held.
A distinguished lineup of guest speakers, including Shutts partners Francis E. Rodriguez, Eduardo de la Peña Bernal and Aleksey Shtivelman, discussed several topics, all centered on Miami’s enhanced position on the global stage. Panel discussions highlighted how Miami has grown in stature as a global center for high-growth companies; how technology is changing the legal sector on multiple fronts; the factors driving M&A deals across the region; and Miami’s establishment as one of the best cities in the US for foreign multinationals to do business and its leading reputation as a destination for international arbitration.
Interlaw, a long-established elite global network of pre-eminent independent law firms, is made up of 8,000+ lawyers based in more than 150 cities around the world. In attendance were individuals from 12 Interlaw member firms, including those with locations in Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, England, Colombia and the United States.
