Amber S. Nunnally, a partner with the Tallahassee office of Shutts & Bowen, was recently elected Vice-Chair of the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nomination Commission, a nonpartisan nine-member commission of lawyers who locate, recruit, investigate and evaluate applicants for the First DCA. She will serve a one-year term.
Amber was previously appointed to the First District Court of Appeal’s Judicial Nominating Commission 2023. Experienced in all aspects of appellate advocacy and procedure, Amber routinely prepares briefs on merits and jurisdiction, amicus briefs, and briefs for extraordinary writs in original proceedings. With 25 years of experience, she has worked in all three branches of Florida government.
Five additional Shutts partners currently serve on Judicial Nominating Commissions. Daniel Nordby, a partner in the Tallahassee office and Chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group, was reappointed to the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, with a term ending July 1, 2026. Denise Harle, a partner in the Tallahassee office, was appointed to the Second Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, with a term ending July 1, 2028. Tallahassee partner Ben Gibson has served on the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission since 2018, and was elected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Commission on July 10, 2019. In 2023, West Palm Beach partner Patricia M. Flanagan was appointed a member of Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. John Meagher, Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s Insurance Practice Group and Managing Partner of the firm’s Miami office, was appointed to serve on the Third District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.
