Shutts & Bowen Senior Partner, Bud Bennington, spoke at the “2024 University of Florida and American Resort Development Legal Symposium” at Grand Lakes Resort in Orlando, FL

Bud Bennington was recently a speaker at a UF-ARDA sponsored conference where he was asked to give commentary on “Recent Litigation Trends Impacting The Hospitality Industry.”

The jointly sponsored 2024 program took place June 13-14, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, where participants networked and attended educational sessions earning up to 8 hours of CLE credits. The event was presented by ARDA and the University of Florida Levin College of Law as a joint Legal Symposium covering a broad spectrum of issues facing the hospitality industry including crisis management, litigation trends, FTC enforcement, data privacy, artificial intelligence and employment disputes. Shutts partners and Business Litigation team members Glennys Ortega Rubin and Benjamin Elliott also attended the two-day seminar.

As a seasoned authority on a wide variety of business litigation and hospitality industry disputes, Bud was a featured panelist on the first afternoon of the conference when he discussed “Litigation Hot Topics and Trends.” During the panel discussion, Bud and his colleagues examined the evolving and highly regulated hospitality industry which poses many litigation risks. The panel discussed common litigation topics and unexpected litigation trends impacting hospitality developers, including TCPA claims, the Florida Telephone Sales Act, the Military Lending Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Resales.
