Summer Associates Participate in Community Service ProjectOn Friday, June 7, Shutts & Bowen’s 2024 Summer Associates participated in a community service project for Feeding South Florida. Organized by the South Florida Association for Law Placement (SFALP), this annual volunteer event brought together almost 100 Summer Associates from different firms.

Volunteers play a vital role in the operations of Feeding South Florida, helping the organization sort through donated food and ensuring that it is safe to go back out to the community. Food donated from food drives, supermarkets and other food industry companies needs to be sorted, checked, and repackaged. Our Summer Associates assisted in processing 17,000 pounds of donated food, surpassing their initial goal by 2,000 pounds, and participated as inspectors, runners, sorters, and builders.

The volunteer event is one of many activities organized as part of Shutts’ Summer Associate Program. The firm’s program is designed to provide an intellectually challenging and professionally gratifying experience for law students. The students take part in firm-sponsored social events and community service projects throughout the summer in addition to attending client meetings, depositions, court hearings and other proceedings.
