Tala Woods, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Jacksonville office, has been appointed to the Government Advocacy Committee for The Florida Bar, with a term effective through June 30, 2024.

Appointed by President-Elect of The Florida Bar, F. Scott Westheimer, Tala will work with her fellow committee members to promote professionalism among lawyer-lobbyists and provide appropriate legal education on matters of interest for lawyer lobbyists. 

The mission of the Government Advocacy Committee is to promote professionalism among lawyer-lobbyists; provide appropriate and applicable legal education on matters of interest to (and tailored especially for) lawyer-lobbyists; provide mentoring and networking opportunities that are not available elsewhere, provide an opportunity for lawyer-lobbyists to stay abreast of and collectively be heard by Florida Bar leadership on various Bar proposals (including proposed rules and ethics opinions) that may affect them. About Tala A. Woods

Tala A. Woods is a Partner in the Jacksonville office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Government Law Practice Group. Tala focuses her practice on public finance and corporate law. She has experience in a variety of public finance transactions including governmental bonds and private activity bonds. Her clients have included school districts and other state and local governmental entities including, community development districts, cities, counties and public utilities. She has also represented non-governmental entities on tax-exempt transactions, including banks, underwriter syndicates and trustees. On the corporate side of her practice, Tala has extensive experience in counseling clients on general corporate matters, including both debt and equity financing.
