“I am truly humbled by this award. Betty Tribble is a dear friend of mine whom I had the privilege of serving with on the Tampa Connection Board,” said Woody. “Winning an award that bears her name means more to me than I can express. I’m proud of the work that Tampa Connection does for our great community, and I’ve enjoyed my decade-plus involvement with the organization, as I’ve watched leaders from across our community rise up and make the Tampa Bay area an even better place to live and work. Thank you again to Tampa Connection for its great contributions to our community, and for honoring me with this amazing recognition.”
In 2005, Tampa Connection began the tradition of recognizing its outstanding alumni with the “Citizen of the Year” award. Award recipients have been selected based on their significant accomplishments in the Tampa Bay Community. The Betty Tribble Award is given to a member of the Tampa Bay community who is not a current Tampa Connection Class Member or a current Tampa Connection Board Member and who has exemplified the qualities and commitments of Betty through community involvement, continued Tampa Connection involvement, strong community leadership, and other significant accomplishments.
