The Pines of Sarasota Foundation Board of Trustees welcomed attorney Charla M. Burchett as a member beginning January 2018. Burchett is a partner in the Sarasota office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Trusts & Estates Practice Group. Her practice focuses on estate planning, estate and gift taxation, estate administration, and trust administration.
Florida Bar board certified in wills, trusts and estates, Burchett has more than 25 years of experience assisting clients through challenging decisions and difficult times to preserve their legacies across generations.
Pines of Sarasota Foundation Board Co-Chair Eddie Morton noted, “Charla brings a wealth of experience and a lifetime of concern for seniors. We are fortunate to have her as a member of our Board.”
Of her decision to accept an invitation to join the Board, Burchett said, “Over the years I have assisted many clients who have spent their final years at the Pines. I have visited clients at the Pines and I’ve attended events there with the Boy Scout Troop and Girl Scout Troop of my kids. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to give back to the Pines after observing the loving interactions between the residents and the staff for over 25 years.”
Burchett’s past professional and civic activities include chairing the estate planning and solo divisions of the Sarasota County Bar Association, serving as president of the Southwest Florida Guardianship Council, as well as president of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Florida State Guardianship Association, and chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
