The Water Resources Development Act of 2016 will authorize the US Army Corps of Engineers to expand Port Everglades.
According to Fort Lauderdale partner Brendan Aloysius Barry in this Daily Business Review article, Port Everglades is one of the top three cruise ports in the world and the nation's 11th largest container port. It also supplies nearly 90% of South Florida's fuel.
Passage of the WRDA bill is vital to business and jobs and can become the model for other environmentally-sensitive expansion projects, adds Barry. He urges business and local officials to continue to lend their voice in support of congressional approval.
