Erik R. Matheney has joined Shutts & Bowen as a partner in the firm’s Tampa office. Mr. Matheney’s practice focuses on complex commercial and products liability litigation as well as government investigations and white-collar criminal litigation.
Mr. Matheney comes to Shutts & Bowen from his previous position as a shareholder at Hill Ward Henderson in Tampa. Prior to private practice, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida.

Active in both professional and Bar-related activities, Mr. Matheney serves as Chair of the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida’s Grievance Committee and a member of the Boards of the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation and Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He also serves on the board of Eastlake Church and as general counsel for the Western Florida District for his church. Mr. Matheney received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Howard University.
