Attorney Harvey Oyer, III, a partner in the West Palm Beach office of Shutts & Bowen, was awarded the James J. Horgan Award by the Florida Historical Society for his latest book The Adventures of Charlie Pierce: Charlie and the Tycoon. Oyer, whose books are used by school districts throughout the state of Florida, has written five books in The Adventures of Charlie Pierce children’s book series. This is the third time that one of Oyer’s books has won the Horgan Award.
Named in honor of the late James J. Horgan and selected by an independent panel of judges, the award recognizes an outstanding book, monograph or special publication which promotes study of Florida history and heritage and is intended for young readers. The award will be presented during the Florida Historical Society Annual Meeting & Symposium May 18 – 22.
