Olga, along with other panelists, presented on "Latinas as the New Paradigm Shifters." Olga discussed how, as a Florida-born daughter of Cuban exiles, who was raised in Puerto Rico and then relocated to Connecticut at age 12, she was exposed to a variety of cultural paradigms, allowing her to understand how a diverse group of people can respect each other’s different perspectives.

"This allows for the creation of innovative solutions that can set companies with diverse work environments apart from their competition,” said Olga. “When we surround ourselves with people that have the same perspective we do, we become more limited in our way of thinking than if we include in our mix people with a different perspective, who will challenge us to break out of our usual thought paradigm. It helps companies, no matter what industry, to better serve and understand a variety of markets and clients."

The Council for Latino Workplace Equity, an initiative under the National Diversity Council, brought entrepreneurs, executives, innovators, educators, policy makers, and students to Florida International University to engage in open dialogue on the best practices for expanding opportunities for Latinos in the workplace. This year’s theme was “One Community, One Vision, One Action.”
