Shutts & Bowen LLP solidified its position in the AmLaw 200 rankings, moving up from No. 175 in gross revenues in 2012 to No. 174 in 2013. This reflected an increase in gross revenue from $127.5 million in 2012 to $132.5 million in the fiscal year ended Dec., 31, 2013, continuing the pattern of steady revenue growth the firm had maintained throughout the Great Recession. As in previous years, the firm outranked the average among its peers in both revenue per lawyer, at No. 148, and profits per partner, at No. 147.
In 2013, Shutts & Bowen laid the groundwork for future growth by adding lawyers and opening its seventh Florida office, in Sarasota. The strategic growth continues into 2014, and the firm now has approximately 250 lawyers.
“Our expansion in 2013 placed us in a great position for extending our reach throughout the state and serving our clients better,” said Bowman Brown, Chairman of the Executive Committee.
Even with this expansion, the firm’s revenue per lawyer held steady, at $575,000, the same as for the preceding year, with profits per partner at $660,000, down slightly from the $680,000 in 2012.
