The law firm of Shutts & Bowen LLP was recognized by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as the Law Firm of the Year at the 17th Annual Sunshine Awards held on November 3, 2011.
The Chamber is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 and is considered one of the largest Hispanic Chambers in the State of Florida. Its mission is to promote the continued growth and development of the Hispanic business community and serve as a resource center and forum to advocate for Hispanic and minority-owned businesses.
Rene Gonzalez-Llorens, a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Group, received the award on behalf of the firm. Mr. Gonzalez-Llorens counsels businesses on labor and employment issues in the workplace, and also represents employers as a trial lawyer. For international clients, Mr. Gonzalez-Llorens seeks remedies in U.S. courts on a variety of commercial issues. Mr. Gonzalez-Llorens is actively involved in the community, including serving as legal counsel to the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and appointed by the Miami-Dade County Commission to the county advisory board responsible for enforcing Miami-Dade County's civil and human rights ordinance.
