A groundbreaking ceremony was held on February 20 in West Palm Beach for a Gold Star Memorial. West Palm Beach partner and former Marine Corps Captain Harvey Oyer was personally involved in the project.
The memorial, located at Trinity Park off of Flagler Drive, will honor Gold Star families who have lost a family member serving in active military duty. West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio joined Gold Star daughter Lauren Berkson, retired U.S. Marine Corps officer and Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams and other dignitaries for the ceremony along the waterfront. Once completed, the monument will be 7 feet high and 13 feet wide and will include a flag pole.
