One hundred community leaders from the diplomatic, government, business, education and legal communities welcomed Italian Consul General Adolfo Barattolo at the Miami law offices of Shutts & Bowen for a reception in his honor.

“We have been overwhelmed by the showing of community support for the consul general and for promoting the ties between Florida and Italy,” said Shutts & Bowen Partner Arthur J. Furia, a member of the firm’s corporate practice group, longtime champion of Italy-USA commerce and the main host of the event.

“This is an international law firm in a world city, so this is an appropriate place for a great occasion,” said Partner Bowman Brown, chairman of Shutts & Bowen’s Executive Committee.

Consuls general from a dozen nations attended the reception, as did a cross section of federal and circuit judges, community and business leaders, prominent educators and representatives of various segments of the professional communities.

Mr. Furia serves on the Board of Directors of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) based in Washington, D.C., and is its General Counsel and a member of its Executive Committee.  He is the State of Florida representative for the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy (AMCHAM), and past president of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce.

Consul General Barattolo’s mission in Miami is to promote business and trade opportunities and expand educational and cultural exchanges. He has enjoyed an extensive career as a diplomat representing Italy on several continents.
