Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Tallahassee partner Rachel Nordby has been appointed by Chief Justice Charles Canady to the Florida Judicial Management Council of the Florida Supreme Court.
The Judicial Management Council serves as a focused advisory body to the Florida Supreme Court and works to assist the chief justice and the Court in identifying and responding to various issues affecting Florida’s judicial branch. The Council consists of 15 voting members, including the chief justice and another justice, representatives from each level of court, and public members. Nordby will serve on the Council as a public member until her term concludes in 2022.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve on the Judicial Management Council,” Nordby said in response to her appointment. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Council to address the many issues facing our state’s judicial branch.”
Nordby’s practice focuses primarily on appellate litigation. Before joining Shutts & Bowen, she served as Senior Deputy Solicitor General for Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. In this role, Nordby represented the State, its agencies, and public officials in cases involving constitutional challenges and issues of statewide impact. Nordby’s appellate court experience also includes service as a judicial law clerk for Judge Bradford Thomas of the Florida Court of Appeals for the First District and an internship with former Florida Supreme Court Justice Harry Lee Anstead.
Nordby presently serves on the Florida Bar’s Appellate Court Rules Committee, the Second Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, and the Executive Committee of the First District Appellate Inn of Court. She also is the immediate past-president of Tallahassee Women Lawyers.
