Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that the Tampa office was recently recognized as a Top Ten Company Contributor for funds raised toward the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides of Tampa Presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Organized by Juanita Sanchez of Shutts’ Tampa office, the Tampa Team included 17 members who participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, the American Cancer Society’s premier 5k (3.2 mile) event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. In addition to the 5k at Raymond James Stadium, the Tampa office collected donations and also hosted an onsite dunk tank fundraising event, inviting people to donate for an opportunity to dunk select Shutts Team Members. The event attracted participants from the entire office building, Shutts employees throughout the firm, clients and was also supported by local restaurants and businesses who contributed. Local restaurants contributing to the onsite event included Alessi Bakery, Wright’s Gourmet House, Chick-Fil-A, Amici’s Catered Cusines, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Acropolis Greek Taverna and Newk’s Catering. The individuals who volunteered to be featured in the dunk tank fundraiser included Eric Adams, Mark Rankin, Fred Werdine, Woody Pollack, Eric Page, Michael Silver, Ella Shenhav and Lawanna Voci.
The Shutts Tampa Team was honored on December 10, 2019 as a Top Ten Company Contributor at an event by the American Cancer Society, recognizing the top fundraisers from the Tampa Bay area. Overall, 687 teams participated in the 2019 Making Strides of Tampa campaign, raising over $831,000.
The American Cancer Society, a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem, started Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks to unite communities in the fight against the deadly disease. According to the organization, Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer events in the nation, raising funds to support groundbreaking breast cancer research and provide patient services. The American Cancer Society has a presence in more than 3,400 communities across the country, including in Hillsborough County.
