Giancarlo Cueto is an Associate in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group. Giancarlo focuses his practice on representing international and domestic clients in complex litigation, arbitration, and business transactions.

Giancarlo has participated in complex, commercial litigation disputes and ICDR, AAA, and ICC arbitration matters. Giancarlo’s experience includes litigating corporate shareholder disputes, aviation disputes, investment disputes, corporate fraud, asset recovery, and cases arising under the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and Section 1983 of Title 42 of the United States Code for civil rights violations committed by government officials.

Giancarlo currently serves as co-chair of the Corporate Counsel committee for the Cuban-American Bar Association and is an active member of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) and Interlaw’s NextGeneration Lawyers Affinity Group.

A fluent Spanish speaker, Giancarlo is uniquely equipped to assist foreign clients in multijurisdictional matters.

Prior to joining Shutts, Giancarlo served a federal clerkship with the Honorable James Lawrence King in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

While in law school, Giancarlo was a member of the Investor Rights Clinic. He also interned at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office where he assisted the Racketeering, Organized Crime, and Narcotics Special Prosecution Unit.

Giancarlo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Finance and a Minor in International Business, from the University of Miami. Giancarlo earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.
