Governor Rick Scott recently appointed Miami partner and former City of Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff to a five-year term on the Florida International University Board of Trustees.

“I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the FIU Board of Trustees,” said Sarnoff. “FIU is an anchor institution in our community and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees to assist President Rosenberg’s team in making FIU better every day and expanding it for the benefit of all of South Florida.”

The Florida International University Board of Trustees is composed of 13 members, six of which are appointed by the Florida governor. The Board develops policies, implements and maintains education programs, conducts performance evaluations, and assures that the University meets state policy, budgeting, and education standards.

Sarnoff's nomination is pending confirmation by the Florida Senate. If approved, he will succeed Mayi de la Vega for a term beginning March 24, 2016, and ending January 6, 2021.
